Sound Engineer, Technical Demonstrator at Massey University

Te Rewa O Puanga – School of Music and Creative Media Production is recruiting a full-time Sound Engineer Technical Demonstrator, to support the operation of their brand new state of the art multi-studio complex. The successful candidate will have expertise in operating large-format digital and analogue consoles, outboard equipment, and plug-ins for tracking, mixing and live performance. The successful candidate will apply their professional skills and experience in commercial studio and/or academic environments to assist with staff, students, research and external enterprise projects.

The school was recently established to respond to New Zealand’s growth and internationally recognised reputation for innovation and creativity in both music and media production. It is staffed by internationally acclaimed and award-winning practitioners, and is equipped with one of the largest and most high-tech studio complexes in Australasia.

The fully networked facility is brand new, and has been designed in consultation with London-based Munro Acoustics, and houses three multi-studio complexes comprising eight acoustically treated control rooms and over 750 square metres of tracking and rehearsal studios. The main flagship studio contains twin control rooms featuring a 72 NEVE VXS and 48 SSL Duality consoles.

In addition to music production, the complex also caters for film and media audio, and includes a Foley studio and film post-production suites, including a 48 CH S6 digital console. The facilities also include five rehearsal rooms, a dedicated music technology laboratory, and teaching and lab spaces.

Together with the School of Design and the School of Art, the School of Music and Creative Media Production is part of the College of Creative Arts at Massey University, Wellington. The School of Design offers majors in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Spatial Design, Visual Communication Design and Textiles. The School of Art offers majors in Fine Art, Maori Visual Art and Photography.

The School of Music and Creative Media Production delivers two undergraduate degree programmes, the Bachelor of Commercial Music and Bachelor of Creative Media Production. The Bachelor of Commercial Music offers majors in Music Practice, Music Technology and Music Industry. The Bachelor of Creative Media Production offers students pathways in Film and TV, Animation and VFX, Web and Interactive and Games.
