The Research Officer will contribute to the research activities of the Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub (ARC-ITRH) for Advanced Manufacturing of Medical Devices. Specifically, the Research Officer will undertake research and development work into two projects: ‘New Materials and Manufacturing Improvements for Optimised Device Design’ and ‘Adaptive Automation Systems for Customised Medical Devices’
The project will require the candidate to have and develop expertise in advanced manufacturing processes, automation and vision based quality inspection systems. The position also requires the Research Officer to undertake up to 10% of their time in teaching duties, which may include lecturing, tutoring, laboratory demonstrations and marking.
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful for this position, a PhD in Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline will be required. You will also have demonstrated ability in advanced manufacturing systems, preferably related to medical device manufacturing. Experience in the use of machine learning, vision capture and image analysis technologies, and advanced manufacturing automation systems is highly desirable.
