A Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available within the Centre for Process Systems Engineering (www.cpse.imperial.ac.uk) under the supervision of Professor Nilay Shah and Dr Cleo Kontoravdi.
The position will focus on the design of novel process concepts for scaling up synthetic biology for healthcare applications. The PDRA will join an interdisciplinary team of Researchers at the Departments of Chemistry, Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering and the Centre for Synthetic Biology and Innovation (CSynBI) at Imperial College London, sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. The successful candidate will have a PhD or will be near completion of a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering or Synthetic Biology with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Microbial fermentation and/or mammalian cell culture
- DNA cloning
- Plasmid vector design
- Cell extract preparation
- Cell-free protein synthesis
The post is available immediately. The appointment is for 12 months in the first instance. The post is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £32,380 – £34,040 per annum.
