The Hertie School of Governance is an international teaching and research center of excellence that prepares students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. An internationally recruited faculty, interdisciplinary in outlook, research, and teaching, offers analytically challenging and practice-oriented courses on governance, policy analysis, management, and leadership. As a professional school, we seek faculty members with a strong commitment to high-quality teaching. Our goal is to help students grow intellectually in a professional, research-intensive environment, characterized by public debate and engagement.
The Hertie School is recruiting a Professor of Public Administration and Management working on the transformation of public governance and administration systems with an expressed interest in digitalization. We are looking for a scholar who can combine state-of-the-art research with the teaching profile of a public policy school. Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of public administration and legislative systems and public management reform in Germany and Europe. High policy-relevance in research and teaching is required. Applicants for this position should have a doctoral degree in public administration, public policy, organisation theory, management or social sciences (economics, political science, sociology, law).
The position is full-time for up to five years (with the possibility of an extension) and intended to be filled at the level of full professor. We also welcome applications from candidates currently at the associate professor level or similar as well as from more established candidates seeking a career change into the dynamic and challenging research and teaching environment the School offers. The expected start date is fall 2018 or spring 2019.
The Hertie School seeks faculty with a commitment to intensive, high-quality teaching and innovative research of potential interest to the international scholarly community and policy-makers. Candidates are expected to show full commitment to working in an interdisciplinary, international environment with English as the language of instruction and operation. The successful candidate will teach courses in the School’s Master, Executive, and PhD programmes.

Applicants should list contact information for three references. Early career candidates should have three letters of recommendation sent from professors familiar with their work.
