The School of Mathematical Sciences is one of the largest UK mathematical science departments and is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Queen Mary. The School is entering an exciting period of strategic growth with significant investment in new posts over the next three years across a broad range of disciplines. In addition to academic appointments, approximately £20 million is being invested in the School’s building to provide state-of-the-art research, teaching and study facilities for staff and students.
As part of this investment, QMUL is seeking to appoint a Professor of Mathematics and Deputy Head of School to progress the School’s ambitions and research strengths. The post-holder is expected to provide inspirational research leadership in Mathematical Sciences and will have a proven track record in research achievements of international stature demonstrated through publications, as well as the ability and flexibility to teach across a range of topics in mathematics at various levels. As Deputy Head of School, the appointee will also be responsible for academic staff development within the School. Applications are invited from candidates in any area of mathematical sciences, with particular interest in Statistics, Mathematical Biology, Number Theory, Algebra, Optimisation & Operations Research and Statistical Machine Learning. The post is a full-time, permanent post based in London. Appointment as Deputy Head of School will be for an initial term of two years.
Professorial salary will be by negotiation within the professorial range. A generous academic support package will be available.
