Va’aomanū Pasifika – Pacific Studies and Samoan Studies in the School of Languages and Cultures seeks to appoint a permanent Lecturer (equivalent to tenured assistant professor) or Senior Lecturer (equivalent to tenured assistant or associate professor) in Pacific Studies.
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Pacific Studies will be involved in administering and teaching Pacific Studies courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Areas of research specialisation and teaching competence are open, and should complement and reinforce existing strengths in Va’aomanū Pasifika as well as enhance the School’s commitment to cross-programme collaboration and interdisciplinarity and the broader research strategies of the University.
While scholars whose interests lie in any area of Pacific Studies are urged to apply, applications from candidates with experience researching and teaching about both historical and contemporary contexts are particularly welcome. Fluency in a Pacific language is highly desirable. The Appointee will work in Va’aomanū Pasifika – Pacific Studies and Samoan Studies, within the School of Languages and Cultures.
The successful applicant will have completed a PhD in Pacific Studies or a related field.
For appointment as Senior Lecturer a strong research record is also required.
