University of Chester – Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Department of Performing Arts

The Department of English at the University of Chester is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in English Language. The successful candidate will have a PhD in English Language/Linguistics as well as recent and relevant experience of teaching at undergraduate level. You will work collaboratively with the existing English Language team to deliver a diverse range of modules.

The Department is committed to the student experience and welcomes applications from candidates who believe in creating the best possible atmosphere of support and encouragement for all students across the Single and Combined Honours English Language programmes.

We are interested in candidates with research interests in any areas of English Language/Linguistics but an ability to teach across a range of English Language/Linguistics modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential. An ability to offer specialist modules in discourse analysis, stylistics, language variation and change or forensic linguistics might be advantageous.
