Associate Director, Estates (Planning and Development) at Leeds Beckett University

Leeds Beckett University is ambitious and resurgent. A large, modern university with campuses in Leeds City Centre and the mainly residential suburb of Headingley, our income is now in excess of £200m.

We are fully committed to student success, research, innovation and enterprise with a global reach and strong local impact. Key to our offering is the physical estate and the facilities provided for our students, staff and visitors. With a reinstatement value in excess of £500m, these assets serve a University population of around 3,000 staff and most importantly 28,000 students from over 100 countries.

We also have a clear strategy for the university’s estate and we are currently developing a supporting Masterplan for the next ten years and beyond. A £200m programme of capital projects is currently in progress with major schemes underway at both sites.

This is a newly created, senior appointment reporting directly to the new Director of Estates. Your remit will be to provide effective leadership, management and strategic direction to the Planning and Development Team and to play a significant role in the development of the university’s estate over the next decade. You will be the University’s expert and professional lead in devising, planning and implementing a linked programme of business critical initiatives including investment in new learning and research spaces and other facilities and infrastructure in support of the University’s academic enterprise.

Applicants should have a recognised property related professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, RIBA or equivalent) and considerable experience of managing and delivering major capital programmes through a variety of delivery vehicles including DBFO and other similar arrangements. Key to your success will be your people skills; influencing, negotiating and driving an agenda that matches our ambition.
