Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for
3 Open Topic Tenure Track Professorships for Human Rights (W1 / Assistant Professor)
The professorships are to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Upon successful evaluation, the appointments will be extended for another three years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2/W3 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint top early career scholars who will develop outstanding expertise in the field. The professorships are financed with funds from a Federal and State programme for supporting young researchers at German universities. All professorships are intended to make significant contributions to the FAU key research priorities. This call for applications addresses outstanding early career scholars with the ambition of developing their own profiles and careers as part of the strategic development of a key priority in cooperation with renowned scholars at FAU (‘Open Topic Tenure Track’). The positions announced in this call for applications will strengthen research and teaching in the field of human rights. The successful candidates will be invited to play an active role in the interdisciplinary Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (CHREN).
The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology invites applications for a professorship at the Department of Education at the Institute for Primary Education Research. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching and research in the field of primary education and teaching. We would welcome applications in particular from candidates who have expertise and have carried out research in the area of human rights, focusing on dealing inclusively with heterogeneity at primary school. Applicants are required to have passed the First and Second State Examinations for Teaching in Primary Schools in Germany or equivalent qualifications. Professional experience would be welcomed. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the degree programmes in Teaching Primary Education and, if applicable, Master’s degree programmes.
The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology invites applications for a professorship in the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, at the Institute for Political Science. In order to increase the focus on the topic of human rights, applicants are in particular expected to demonstrate wide-ranging qualifications in the area of political science, providing evidence of publications, talks and teaching already carried out in the field (generally having completed a doctoral degree in political sciences), as well as evidence of specialisation in the area of human rights and human rights policy. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in teaching and research.
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Law invites applications for a professorship at the School of Law. The professorship will be connected to the area of Public Law. Within the context of human rights, the successful candidate shall be expected to make a contribution to teaching and research predominantly in the area of migration law and international protection of human rights. As well as being involved in teaching in the degree programme in Law, the successful candidate will also have the option of teaching in the interdisciplinary Master’s degree programme in Human Rights.
Successful candidates demonstrate initial academic achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites.
